Backstage Sessions 2007

Stian Andersen has done it again.

With exclusive Øya 2007 artists like Justice, CocoRosie, and Yo Majesty in front of his camera, Stian Andersen has made us forget the winter cold. Gone is everything that reminds us of the biting, ice-cold Oslo fog, heavy exhaust fumes, and freeze-dried cocoa that tastes artificial. We can feel the grass between our toes and taste the beer in our mouths.

This was the fourth year in a row that the star photographer moved in backstage to portray a selection of our artists. Pete Doherty, Beck, The Knife, Evan Dando (Lemonheads), Spiritualized, Soundtrack of Our Lives, The Cramps, and Roots Manuva have one thing in common: They’ve all been photographed backstage at Øya by Stian Andersen.

For those of you who haven’t heard of Stian Andersen before, here are a few facts:

- Stian Andersen went on the road with Turbonegro for more than a year, and last year he toured all over Norway with one of the most exciting punk photo exhibitions we’ve ever seen, entitled “The Silent Side of Rock’n’Roll”. Jeez, what great pics!

- Stian has shot cover photos for acts like Turbonegro, Kung Fu Girls, Röyksopp, A-ha, and Marit Larsen – and he has also portrayed Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg and HRH Mette Marit (wife of Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon).
