Fleet Foxes are coming

mandag

The five guys in Seattle-based Fleet Foxes were among our absolute highlights during this year’s SXSW in Texas, something which i.a. Pitchfork agreed with us on. The guys themselves claim to be into “baroque harmonic pop jams”. Just what they mean by that you can find out for yourself by checking out the EPs ‘Fleet Foxes’ (2006) and ‘Sun Giant’ (2008). In early June they’ll be out with the album ‘Ragged Wood’ on legendary label SubPop in the US and the amazing Bella Union in Europe. Two months later they’ll be making their Norwegian live debut at the Øya Festival. The band has admitted that they entertain a certain admiration for artists like The Zombies, Fairport Convention, Love, Marvin Gaye, Bob Dylan, and Buffalo Springfield. Much of this is easily traceable in their songs. It seems, therefore, that they’re not afraid to admit to being inspired by both pretty pop, weird folk rock, and psychedelia. Normally, they make soft and sophisticated material founded on solid pop craftsmanship. Fleet Foxes cannot fail as a soundtrack to warm and lazy summer days. We therefore highly recommend that you show up to see their gig when they play the Medieval Park. The band has been on the road in the US with Blitzen Trapper the past few months and will be all warmed up and ready to go when they come to Øya in August.

Den kommende plata Ragged Wood kommer til å bli sommerens schläger numero uno, en nydelig sak fra begynnelse til slutt!
