A Place To Bury Strangers (US)

Friday 08 august. Scene: Odden

aplace

Rumors about this glorious power trio have been going around for the past few months. Their mix of shoegazer aesthetics, power rock, and airy psychedelia has made many a picky connoisseur listen extra closely. When guitarist and singer Oliver Ackermann is not busy running this tight operation, he develops guitar pedals that are used by e.g. Serena Maneesh, TV on the Radio, Wilco, and Lightning Bolt. A Place to Bury Strangers has been dubbed “New York’s loudest band”. On their self-entitled debut from last year you can familiarize yourself with a trio that blasts off all kinds of frustration and anger through their music, though without losing sight of the melodies. During the past two years they’ve played support for Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Jesus & May Chain, and Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. After Øya they’re going on tour with Nine Inch Nails. Our representatives got completely carried away at a show in New York last fall, and A Place to Bury Strangers has been at the top of our wish list ever since. On Friday Aug. 8 they play our new stage, Odden, in the Medieval Park.
